About Teresa Mars

Over the years, I’ve learned that true healing begins when we feel safe, seen, and heard. My personal journey across different countries, cultures, and roles, has shown me how deeply we all need connection and understanding. That’s what I aim to offer: a calm, supportive space where you can untangle what’s hard and rediscover your own strength.

Qualifications & Experience

Teresa is a Clinical Counsellor registered with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA), offering trauma-informed counselling from her private practice in Bondi Junction and via telehealth.

What sets Teresa apart is the depth of life experience she brings to her work. Having lived and worked across England, Scotland, France, and Australia in both education and corporate public relations, she has a natural ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Her counselling is informed by compassion, curiosity, and an understanding that every story is unique.

Teresa’s journey into counselling has been shaped by both professional and personal experiences. She has supported victim-survivors of domestic violence through her work in the not-for-profit sector and has walked alongside family and friends through their own mental health challenges. As a mother of three adult children, she understands firsthand the complexities of relationships, parenting, and personal change.

Fluent in English and French, Teresa offers sessions in both languages to create space for clients to express themselves where they feel most at ease.

She works with adult clients of all ages and takes a holistic approach, helping clients explore the links between emotional wellbeing, physical health, and resilience. Teresa integrates a range of evidence-based therapies, including:

  • EMDR therapy for processing trauma and restoring balance

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) for practical skills and emotional regulation

  • Young Schema Therapy for shifting unhelpful core beliefs

  • Circle of Security parenting (COS)

Above all, Teresa is passionate about creating a warm, safe, and non-judgemental space where clients feel truly heard. Her role isn’t to give you ready-made answers but to walk alongside you, helping you uncover your strengths and find clarity as you navigate life’s challenges.
